Drawing lessons from the book Donor Centered Fundraising by Penelope Burk, personal experience, and local donor surveys and interviews, John will discuss the effectiveness of various kinds of donor recognition for corporate and individual donors. Look for a surprisingly honest discussion of what works and what doesn’t.

Recent work within the religious fundraising community has furthered the donor-centered approach. It has also fostered new debate within the overall fundraising community about whether the person who does development work raises generous people or generous gifts as a first priority. Mark will detail the differing trajectories in these two approaches and offer insight into the religiously-motivated giver, regardless of where their gifts are directed.
