Charitable Gift Planners of Northeast Indiana (CGPNI) and the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFPNEI) join forces for a half-day training session.  

 

SESSION OVERVIEW

 

8:30-10am-Session 1: Gifts, Money, and Taxes 101

Far from a dry, boring lecture, this highly participative program takes a game-show approach to learning the basic tax rules that influence donors’ decisions about charitable gifts.  It includes an optional pre-session quiz to help participants gauge their level of knowledge about these rules, often piquing their interest in attending the program as an introduction to or refresher on important information affecting their donors or clients.

 

10:30-noon-Session 2: Planned Giving 201:  Life-Income Gifts

In a session for staff of nonprofits with at least a basic planned giving program in place, we discuss the most common types of life-income gifts:  charitable gift annuities and the various types of charitable remainder trusts, as well as an introduction to charitable lead trusts.  We make generous use of examples to illustrate the benefits of these gifts for charitably minded individuals, and discuss considerations of organizations wishing to include them in their fundraising programs.
