Session Overview:

An endowment? What does that even mean? Why should my organization care?

  1. The transfer of wealth is real.

  2. Now is the time to prepare for the future.

  3. Tax laws have changed.

  4. The number of nonprofits reaching out to your donors is increasing.

Kiley Tate-Potts and Jaren Harmon, representing the Community Foundation of Greater Fort Wayne, will lead discussion surrounding endowments and why your organization should be familiar with this strategy to achieve financial stability in perpetuity and engage donors through a new strategy of giving. Kiley and Jaren will go over endowment basics as well as how to conduct a needs assessment to determine if your organization is ready for an endowment,  and include strategies to build your fund. They will share opportunities to engage your donors through leveraging planned giving opportunities, non-cash gifts, and new donor relations through your endowment fund. The discussion will wrap up with next steps and how the Community Foundation can work alongside you in achieving your endowment fund goals and getting your organization on board.
